Mitsubishi Fuso Truck of America Will Launch Electric Trucks By End of 2017

The Mitsubishi Fuso Truck of America, Inc. (or FUSO) recently announced they will release a line of electric trucks by the end of 2017 at The Work Truck Show press conference. The truck manufacturer, which is headquartered in Logan Township, New Jersey, is known for helping companies in different industries transport their products around the globe.

Mitsubishi Fuso Truck of America decided to name their new line of trucks eCanter. The medium-duty work trucks will run using just electricity and battery power instead of gasoline. The eCanter is a Class 4 truck with a payload capacity of around 9,380 lb. Drivers can charge the truck from one hour up to eight hours overnight. It can travel up to 100 miles when fully charged. The manufacturer believes eCanter will help the environmental, especially in metropolitan areas, since it does not create noise pollution or produce harmful emissions.

The eCanter allows drivers to maximize their payload. Mitsubishi Fuso Truck of America also designed the eCanter so it could have a high-capacity electric power take-off (PTO). This will help drivers who need to transport items that must be kept cold or refrigerated, need a liftgate for the truck or other auxiliary devices.

When the truck enters the market, it will be the first fully electric work truck made by a large manufacturer. Overall, Mitsubishi Fuso Truck of America is excited about their new product and how this will impact the trucking industry.
